Thanksgiving 2010
First Steps 11/26/10
Andrew took his first real steps this week. He has been getting more and more brave to let go of the couch, but finally let go and took a few steps the other night. He was motivated by Tony's phone. He is really intrigued by cell phones and t.v. remotes! Such a boy!
November 6 and 7

Wendy (babysitter) let us borrow a "walking" toy this weekend for Andrew to try out, He took to it right away and is really getting the hang of using it!
We also bought Andrew is first pair of sneakers this weekend. We got the ones with Velcro, how fast will he figure out how to get out of them?!?!? We are trying to be preventative about fixing his toes. Hopefully this will work!
Roseola 10/26/10

Andrew got Roseola fever this week, Tony was out of town, and it was just us and Grandpa Ruhland. He was a little fussy, and was covered in a red rash. It worked out well because I would have had to stay home from work with Andrew if dad wasn't here to help out.
Andrew also started saying "ma" and "da" this week- though he has no connection to those being what he should be calling us yet!
10/19/10
9 Month doctor visit
Andrew got a good report at the doctor, though he is a bit yellow because of all of the yellow and orange veggies we have been feeding him. He weighs 23.5 lbs and is 28.25 inches tall. No shots this time and we don't have to go back until Jan for the 1 year check-up!
Andrew did have a bit of an issue with the diaper change before the nurse took him to be weighed. He decided to relieve himself without a diaper on and the diaper bag was nowhere to be found! The nurse just smiled and said "Oh, that happens all the time!" UGH!!!!!

October 12th
We found out that Andrew is going to be a big brother today!! He took the news really well, but I think we will have to ask him again after the newest member of our family actually arrives!
End of September
Andrew is really growing up fast! He is 8 months old now and he has cut 2 teeth, the 2 bottom middle teeth. He has been crawling for a few weeks now and is getting very good at moving around. "BA" is the new favorite word in Andrew's vocabulary, and he is loving using it, often!!! Andrew has also mastered holding his own bottle, which has been a great help, as his curiosity gets the best of him at meal times.
Andrew Started to Crawl 9/5
Andrew's first really crawling experience! He's still a little shaky, but he is very motivated!

In other Andrew news, he is seconds away from crawling. He is able to sit up on his own now and is a rolling machine. He is also perfecting the army crawl, and if he wasn't so chubby, would probably already be crawling haha. The house has been baby-proofed, but I'm not sure that we are ready for him to be moving around on his own yet.

Out for dinner-Aug 11
We went out for a late lunch/early dinner, to Chili's, the other day. It was around 3:30ish and the restaurant was almost entirely empty. Andrew decided he was going to be chatty, so we had some fun with it. The server was laughing just as much as we were, I think!
REAL Bananas-Aug 4th
Andrew got to give real bananas a try the other day. The faces were very funny. He really wasn't sure what to make of the "chunks" of food.

6 Month check-up
Andrew went to the doctor on the 12th of July. He weighs 20 lbs 5 oz and is 27 inches long. His height is catching up to his weight now! The doctor said that Andrew is very healthy and is on track with all of his milestones.
Now that Andrew has started eating cereal and loved it, we are moving on to bigger and better things- veggies!!! He's tried peas and sweet potatoes so far and seems to really like them. We're thinking there isn't going to be much he won't like.

4 Month Doc Visit
Andrew had his 4 month appointment yesterday, he weighed in at 18 lbs. 3.5 oz! His height was 24 3/4 in and he his happy and healthy! He had half of his next set of shots so he was a sleepy and fussy guy. He woke up smiling this morning though. Also, Andrew has finally found his thumb, the left one to be exact. Does that mean he is going to be a southpaw like his mother???

Doctor's Appt - March 23rd, 2010
Andrew had his 2 month doctor visit today. Everything went really well. He was measured at 22 1/4 in and weighed 13lb. 1.5 oz! He is such a big boy! He got 3 of his vaccines as well. We head back in 2 weeks for the remainder of his shots. The doctor said he is progressing really well, and he is really strong for where he is in his development. I guess its all that tummy time he is getting!
Baptism
Andrew was baptized on March 20th, 2010 at St. Bartholomew's Anglican Church in Amherst, NY. It was a small ceremony with family and close friends. He pooped during the middle of the prayers, but did really well the rest of the time!
Following the ceremony we took pictures. Andrew was able to be part of something very special by having his picture taken with 4 generations on both sides of the family.

What's new in the life of Andrew!
February 2nd - Andrew had his 2 week check up and the doctor said he looked really good. He weighed in at 7lbs 4.5oz. He is healing up fine and his cord should fall off any time now. Next appt. March 23rd.
February 9th - Concerns about Andrew being tongue tied brought us back to the doctor. The pediatrician snipped the piece of skin under his tongue, it was quick and simple. He was fine 5 min later. At this visit he weighed 7lbs 14.5 oz., he is growing so fast! They also pulled his cord off as well.
February 10th - Andrew had his first bath ... oh what an experience! He screamed the entire time! The picture above is from the bath.
February 14th - Andrew celebrated his first Valentine's Day in style! The picture above is Andrew in his swing, with his Valentines outfit on and his shades.

Andrew Joseph Staley
At the Hospital!
Kristen started having some contractions yesterday morning, and by 1:30 AM this morning they were about 3 to 5 minutes apart. So we loaded up the car and headed to the hospital and arrived at 3:45 AM. She was 6cm dilated when we arrived. She is now up on the labor and delivery floor. He should be here any time now! I will keep you posted and hopefully get some pictures up on the blog!

Week 35
The photo is the baby belly at Week 35, with Week 36 being this Saturday, January 9th. Kristen had a doctor's appointment today, everything is still going really well. Everything is still very normal. We had another ultrasound to check on his position and size. He is still head down and all signs are pointing for him to be a big boy. They determined that he is about 6 lbs. 12 oz. right now with at least a month to go!
